Hebrew Academy is committed to the protection of your personal information. We are compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.

1. What information do we collect?

The information we collect varies depending on how you interact with us. Some of the data we collect includes:

  • Identifiers: Name, address, telephone numbers, title, email address, date of birth, social insurance number or social security number, credit card numbers, debit card number, passport number, driver’s license, or identification card number
  • Biometrics: signature, photograph, video surveillance
  • Other: information you voluntarily communicate with us, including family details and health information

2. Why do we collect your information, and how do we use it?

We collect your information to fulfill legal, regulatory, and business obligations. These include:

  • Providing educational services to students,
  • Informing parents and students (current and former) of community events and school information,
  • Fundraising activities.

We will never base any decisions solely based on the automated processing of your personal information.

3. What are your rights regarding your personal information?

When you provide us with personal information you have the following rights:

  • Right of access: You have the right to access any personal information we have concerning you (unless restricted by law). You have the right to receive the data in digital format.
  • Right of rectification: If your information has changed, or if you discover an error with regards to your information, you have the right to request that it be modified.
  • Informed consent: We will always ask for your consent prior to collecting your information. You will be fully informed of what data we are collecting, the purposes for which it is collected, and rights granted to you. The information will only be used for the purpose described. Your consent can be withdrawn freely at any time, without consequences.
  • Right of erasure: You have the right to request that we delete your personal information, if we do not have a legal or business obligation to retain it.

4. How do we protect your personal information?

We use physical, technical, and administrative controls to keep your personal information confidential and accurate. These controls are standard for the education sector and are implemented in proportion to the sensitivity of the data collected. Access to your data is restricted to authorized personnel. Any third parties with whom your information is shared must demonstrate compliance with our privacy policy, as well as with the relevant laws and regulations regarding data protection.

5. Are there any exceptions to the privacy policy?

We may use, communicate, or refuse access to your personal information without your explicit consent if it is:

  • Clearly used for your benefit
  • Used to prevent or detect fraud.
  • Used to provide a service that you requested.
  • Used for research or statistical purposes if it is de-identified.
  • Request by law enforcement
  • Required to prevent death or serious injury
