by Dr. Laura Segall, High School Principal

The Montreal Regional Chidon Hatanach was held on Wednesday, March 9 at TBDJ.  Twenty-five Hebrew Academy Elementary and 14 High School students represented the largest contingent of competitors against peers from Herzliah, Bialik, Maimonide, JPPS, Hebrew Foundation and Akiva.

Yasher Koach to all of our participants who devoted so much of their personal time to the study of Tanach outside of their regular classes! We hope to receive the results at beginning of next week. Winners will be moving on to the National Competition in Toronto in May.

Hebrew Academy was also proudly represented by this year’s judges, Grade 11 students Eliana Rohr, Matan Tordjman and Yehonatan Haimovici, who are former Chidon Hatanach winners.

Special thank you to 2009 National Winner Coach Noah Cohen (’13) for preparing our students to well.

Thank you to Elementary Director of Judaic Studies Jordana Levy and High School Principal Dr. Laura Segall for coordinating the competition for Hebrew Academy, and to Elementary Principal Shauna Joyce, Judaic Studies Teacher Rivkah Benarroch, and  Bnot Sherut Noam Korngut, Tsofnat Halevi, Aviya Shilo and Odeya Aviv for chaperoning our students.
