It was the perfect weather for a run on Sunday morning and hundreds of Hebrew Academy stakeholders did just that as participants in the school’s fourth annual 5K Fun Run/Walk in Côte Saint-Luc.
About 260 HA family members attended the family-friendly event which included upbeat music, a photo-booth, healthy snacks and warm-up and cool-down exercises led by Certified Personal Fitness Trainer Danny Cohen. Organized by HA parents Rachel Goodman Aspler, Ilan Dahan, Emmanuel Amar, Karen Ohana and Sandra Fine, the 5K Run/Walk began outside the school on Kellert Avenue, circled through Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park, continued along Mackle Road and looped around Hudson back onto Mackle.
Families with young children had the option of participating in a 1K run through the park and back along Kellert. The morning culminated with children’s activities including face-painting, a friendship-bracelet station and bouncy castle, and a Chessed Fair featuring volunteer opportunities at local organizations including MADA, Bnei Akiva and The Family Store.
Noteworthy attendees included Liberal MP Anthony Housefather and CSL District Councillor Dida Berku.
“Great to start a busy Sunday with my friends at Hebrew Academy,” said Mr. Housefather on his Facebook page. “The school’s 5 km Fun Run brings the community together.”
Hebrew Academy is grateful to Mr. Housefather, Ms. Berku and the SPVM for their attendance! We extend our sincere thanks to Fun Run sponsors Café de l’Avenue, Davcon Construction, Karen Ohana-Courtier Résidentiel and Uniprix Sharon Abitbol and to the following volunteers who supported various aspects of the event: CSL vCOPS, personal trainer Danny Cohen, HA parents Hudi Aspler, Audrey Bensoussan, and Raymonde Friedman, HA Elementary School coordinators Elyse Haber and Dr. Miriam Schrager, HA Elementary staff member Ilana Melloul and our numerous High School students.
