Early Intervention

Early intervention is support given to students in Kindergarten, Grade 1 and 2 in order to ensure that students’ literacy skills are developing appropriately. Beginning in Kindergarten, our English and French Early Interventionists work with students both individually and in small groups on a weekly-basis to hone their pre-reading, math and writing skills.

All students’ reading skills are screened three times a year with a universal screening tool as part of the Response to Intervention model that Hebrew Academy follows. Mid-year, an outside educational consultant screens Kindergarten students to look more closely at important basic skills. The professionals identify students who need additional support and offer recommendations to both parents and teachers.
